For every dance CodeBLUE will offer 10 volunteer hours (4 door hours, 4 DJ sets, 2 Set-Up/Clean-up hours). Every hour worked is worth $10 in credit towards the dance class or event of the volunteer’s choice. At any point the credit that the volunteer has earned may be put towards registration fees. After you read the rules below, you'll find a link that will take you to the sign-up form. Thanks!
Volunteer Guidelines
CodeBLUE will not attempt to assess the financial need of any volunteer. Please only volunteer for pay if you are in genuine need of financial aid.
All volunteers will be on the honor system. Please don’t take an opportunity away from someone who actually needs it if you don’t.
Volunteer credit can only be used for improving your blues and lindy. We will fund registration fees for workshops, classes, or lessons(in rare cases
that you are getting into a workshop for free, we might be willing to give travel credits). You should specify in your application what you are working towards.
Volunteers will be responsible for tracking their hours and money earned on the volunteer code blue spreadsheet after each shift.
When you have earned the desired amount you and a CodeBLUE organizer will register for the event of your choice. Volunteers will not be
given cash in exchange for their hours.
Volunteers will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. CodeBLUE will make every effort to ensure that anyone interested is given hours.
Working the door entails collecting entry fee from ALL attendees for the entirety of your shift.
Working the door also entails greeting every person who enters through the door, and saying good bye to each person who leaves through the door.
Set-up and Clean-up must be on site for the entire hour they are working unless told to leave by an organizer. You will be responsible for setting
up chairs, tables, snacks, water coolers and any other miscellaneous tasks.
Interested DJs must submit a one-hour play list to the volunteer email address. We are looking for songs that are clearly lindy or clearly blues.
While some creative license is allowed, the majority of the sets should be in the traditional forms. We cannot guarantee all requests to DJ will be honored,
but we will provide feedback and welcome resubmissions.
Any volunteer that does not fulfill their designated duties for the entire shift will not be compensated or asked to volunteer again.
